Chile de Árbol is a type of shrub, which is where the name “chili tree” comes from.
When freshly picked, it has a bright red color; when dried, it turns a deep red. Its flavor is nutty, slightly smoky, and of course, it’s a very hot chili pepper.
On the Scoville scale, it ranges between 15,000 and 30,000 SHU.
It is mainly recommended for use in salsas, soups, as a complement to pickled dishes, or added to spice blends.
After handling, thorough hand washing is recommended to avoid irritation.
